Welcome!

Updated: Dec 21, 2021

Life is stressful. It is also incredibly busy. It can be hard to fit in self-care when you are going a million miles an hour all day everyday. I can relate. I am a mom of two, a wife, and I am starting my own business. There are plenty of days when I feel like sleeping is my only down time (and there isn’t much of that either!). As hard as it can be to make time to take care of yourself, even just a few minutes a day can make a big difference in your life. I created this blog and the corresponding video blog on YouTube to share some tips and tools to help deal with the stress of everyday life. Over the years as a therapist I have been witness to how powerful these tools can be in the lives of my clients and my own life. Now I want to share that wealth by writing this blog.

Tune In & Tune Up

Taking a few minutes to read the blog or listen to/watch the video blog can give you time to tune into yourself. Awareness is a powerful tool for well-being, but it is something that we struggle with most of the time. I hope that this blog can be an opportunity for you to check-in with yourself. The quick tips, tools, and skills I present can help you tune up your well-being and mental health. Practice the tools throughout the week for a mini mental health makeover to put a little spring in your step.

A Little Bit About Me

Hi! I’m Dr. Caitilin Barrett. I am a licensed clinical psychologist at New Dawn Psychological Services, which is my own online telehealth therapy private practice . My services are aimed at adults with a wide range of issues including trauma, anxiety, and depression. Right now I serve those located in Wyoming, and I am working on expanding to other areas in the near future. I provide evidence based care delivered with compassion.

I have been independently licensed for over three years and have been providing mental health care for over a decade. During that time, I have picked up some tips and tricks that have made a big difference not only in the lives of my clients but also in my own life. My favorite therapy modalities are Acceptance and Commitment Therapy known as ACT and Dialectical Behavior Therapy known as DBT. There are numerous reasons I love these therapies with one of my top reasons being that providers are required to use the therapy skills and techniques too. When we teach these therapies we are not only basing it on our education and expertise, we are speaking from our own experience.

The translation from technique to life can be a challenge, so I created this blog and YouTube channel to share some of my own experiences along with tips and tricks to offer you some tools that can help make your ride in life a little smoother. To be clear, this isn’t therapy. It is a self help resource to support everyone out there looking to make their lives a little better.
